On March 9, Weiming Environment Protection signed a framework agreement with Yongqing Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Tsingshan Industrial), GEM, Shenzhen Capchem, and other leading new energy enterprises for the Wenzhou New Energy Battery Materials Industrial Park. The project is planned to be located in Dongtou District, covering approximately 925 mu (about 61.7 hectares) with a total investment of RMB 8 billion.
Municipal leaders including Liu Xiaotao, Zhang Zhenfeng, Ge Yiping, and Chen Zuorong attended the signing ceremony or delivered video speeches. Xiang Guangda, Chairman of the Board of Tsingshan Industrial; Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM Co., Ltd.; Xiang Guangming, Chairman of Zhejiang Weiming Environment Protection Co., Ltd.; and Qin Jiusan, Chairman of Shenzhen Capchem Technology Co., Ltd., were present at the signing ceremony.
The Wenzhou New Energy Battery Materials Industrial Park will construct a high-purity lithium carbonate production base, nickel-cobalt-manganese sulfate crystal materials facility, electrolyte materials production base, and cogeneration energy base, while attracting industrial chain projects such as graphene anode materials, separator materials, and lithium iron phosphate (LFP). Upon completion, the park is expected to achieve an annual output value of RMB 30 billion, driving the upstream extension of Wenzhou’s new energy battery industry.
In his video speech, Mayor Zhang Zhenfeng stated that the establishment of the Wenzhou New Energy Battery Materials Industrial Park is a practical move for Wenzhou to implement the “Sweet Potato Economy” (a local economic strategy) upgrading and the “No. 1 Open Project”, as well as a concrete practice for patriotic private enterprises to “go global” at a high level and “attract investment” with high quality. He emphasized that the project will play a key supporting role in optimizing and strengthening Wenzhou’s new energy industry chain and seizing new opportunities in strategic emerging industries.
Regarding the agreement, all shareholders expressed affirmation and determination. Xiang Guangda noted that strengthening the new energy industry requires collaborative efforts from the government, society, and enterprises, and he hopes more industry leaders will join Wenzhou’s new energy “ecosystem” to enhance industrial competitiveness. Xu Kaihua remarked that Wenzhou, with its rich resources and entrepreneurial spirit, is fertile ground for nurturing enterprises, and he looks forward to collaborating with local companies to seize opportunities in the new energy sector. Qin Jiusan said he felt the passion for innovation and entrepreneurship in Wenzhou and pledged to transform the industrial park into a premium project, living up to the expectations of the government and the dedication of the investment team. Xiang Guangming stated that the project further extends Wenzhou’s new energy industry chain, and Weiming will leverage the strengths of all parties to expedite project implementation and contribute to the development of Wenzhou’s new energy industry.
