Recently, China Energy News and the China Institute of Energy economics research jointly released the "2022 China Top 500 Energy Enterprises (Groups)" list, with Zhejiang Weiming Environment Protection Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as Weiming Environment Protection) ranking 371st, up 8 places from the previous year.
For over two decades, Weiming has been deeply rooted in the environmental protection industry, investing in, constructing, and operating nearly 100 waste-to-energy (WTE) incineration power generation projects across China, positioning itself in the industry’s first tier. In the first three quarters of this year, the company’s waste treatment projects processed a total of 6.8326 million tons of waste (including municipal solid waste, food waste, sludge, etc.), a 35.5% year-on-year increase, generating 1.928 billion kWh of grid-connected electricity (up 28.02% YoY) and achieving RMB 1,881.0059 million in revenue from its solid waste environmental protection business.
WTE incineration power generation delivers dual carbon reduction benefits: methane emission control and fossil fuel displacement. According to the 14th Five-Year Plan for Renewable Energy Development, municipal solid waste incineration power generation is categorized under biomass energy and recognized as a renewable energy source. Against the backdrop of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, initiatives such as new energy substitution, energy conservation, and resource recycling will become essential for green development, presenting new growth opportunities for the WTE industry.
In parallel, to align with national strategies for building a new energy system, Weiming has actively expanded its new energy and materials industrial chain since 2022. The company has partnered with leading enterprises to invest in integrated new energy materials projects and is advancing plans for end-of-life battery recycling initiatives, injecting fresh momentum into its green and high-quality development.
